Section 748.2257 - What are the requirements if a physician orders administration of a psychotropic medication to a child in an emergency?(a) If a physician has made a determination that there is an emergency according to § 266.009 of the Family Code and the emergency requires the administration of a psychotropic medication, then you must follow the physician's orders and do not have to obtain consent prior to the administration of the medication.(b) Within 72 hours after you have administered the medication, you must notify the parent and the person legally authorized to give medical consent.(c) The physician's statement regarding the emergency and the prescription must be documented in the child's record.26 Tex.
