Section 748.605 - What qualifications must a treatment director have?(a) A treatment director that provides or oversees treatment services for children with intellectual disabilities or children with autism spectrum disorder must be: (1) Licensed as a psychiatrist, psychologist, professional counselor, clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist, or registered nurse; or(2) Certified by the Texas Education Agency as an education diagnostician, have a master's degree in special education or a human services field, and have three years of experience working with children with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.(b) A treatment director that provides or oversees treatment services for children with primary medical needs must be a physician or a licensed registered nurse.(c) A treatment director that provides or oversees treatment services for children with emotional disorders must: (1) Be a psychiatrist or psychologist;(2) Have a master's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and three years of experience providing treatment services for children with an emotional disorder, including one year in a residential setting; or(3) Be a licensed master social worker, a licensed clinical social worker, a licensed professional counselor, or a licensed marriage and family therapist, and have three years of experience providing treatment services for children with an emotional disorder, including one year in a residential setting.26 Tex.
