Section 22.254 - DefinitionsIn addition to the words and terms defined in §22.1 of this chapter (relating to Definitions), the following words and terms, when used in this subchapter, shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
(1) Career and Technical Education Course--A workforce or continuing education college course offered by an institution of higher education for which a student may earn credit toward satisfaction of a requirement necessary to obtain an industry-recognized credential, certificate, or associate degree. (A) A career and technical education course is listed in the Workforce Education Course Manual (WECM).(B) For the purpose of this subchapter, this definition excludes:(i) an avocational course;(ii) a continuing education course that is ineligible for conversion as articulated college credit; and(iii) a continuing education course that does not meet the institution's program or instructor accreditation standards.(2) Certificate Program--For purposes of the Texas Educational Opportunity Grant Program, Level 1 and Level 2 certificates, Occupational Skills Awards, and other credentials of value as defined in §13.472 of this chapter (relating to Definitions). These include programs offered through academic courses or through career and technical education courses, as defined in paragraph (1) of this subsection.(3) Continuation Award--A grant awarded to a person who has previously received an initial year award.(4) Entering undergraduate--A student enrolled in the first 45 semester credit hours or their equivalent, excluding hours taken during dual enrollment in high school and courses for which the student received credit through examination.(5) Forecast--The FORECAST function in Microsoft Excel.(6) Grant--Funds awarded to a student through the Texas Educational Opportunity Grant Program.(7) Initial year award--The grant award made in the student's first year in the Program.(8) Program--The Texas Educational Opportunity Grant Program.19 Tex.
