Section 130.45 - Continuing Medical Education-Audit Process(a) The department employs an audit system for CME reporting. The licensee is responsible for maintaining a record of the licensee's CME experiences. The certificates or other documentation verifying earning of CME hours are only to be forwarded to the department if the licensee has been selected for audit.(b) The audit process shall be as follows: (1) The department will select for audit a random sample of licensees to ensure compliance with CME hours. The audit may occur before, during, or after the license renewal process.(2) If selected for an audit, the licensee must submit copies of certificates, transcripts, or other documentation satisfactory to the department, verifying the licensee attendance, participation and completion of the CME.(3) Failure to timely furnish this information within 30 calendar days after notification of the audit, being deficient in the CME required for the most recent renewal of the license, failure to complete all CME within 90 calendar days after notification of the deficiency, or providing false information during the audit process are grounds for disciplinary action against the licensee.(4) If selected for CME audit during the renewal period, the licensee may renew and pay renewal fees.16 Tex.
