The director may contract for professional environmental consulting services to conduct release investigations, prepare corrective action plans, design remedial systems, install and operate remedial systems, and coordinate remedial activities. If the director has contracted for professional environmental consulting services pursuant to this section, no expenses for professional environmental services incurred by a covered party at a release site are eligible for reimbursement unless such expenses are approved in writing by the director.
