The certificate of an individual who was not employed as an operator upon certification or who terminates employment as an operator of a water treatment plant, water distribution system, wastewater treatment plant, or wastewater collection system may be renewed in February of the next two years upon payment of the annual renewal fee. After two such renewals the certificate may no longer be renewed unless the individual is employed in the water and wastewater occupational field. An individual who desires reinstatement after expiration shall follow the procedures for initial certification.
