A permit-issuing authority may issue an annual permit which allows the movement on state trunk highways of an oversize permit vehicle consisting of a licensed motorized vehicle towing a manufactured home. The permit vehicle may not exceed a height of 15 feet. The manufactured home, excluding all nonstructural appendages and safety devices, may not exceed a width of 16 feet or a length of 80 feet. The manufactured home, including all nonstructural appendages except for safety devices, may not exceed a width of 16 feet 6 inches or a length of 80 feet 6 inches.
The motorized vehicle towing a manufactured home must be of sufficient size and power to safely handle the movement of the manufactured home and to maintain minimum speeds where posted. At a minimum, manufactured homes over 8 feet wide but not more than 10 feet wide must be towed by a motor vehicle of no less than 6,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), manufactured homes over 10 feet wide but not more than 12 feet wide must be towed by a motor vehicle of no less than 8,000 pounds GVWR, and manufactured homes over 12 feet wide but not more than 18 feet wide must be towed by a motor vehicle of no less than 9,000 pounds GVWR.
The permit is not valid for movement when the wind velocity exceeds 25 miles per hour. Before moving a permit vehicle, the permit holder must ascertain in a manner satisfactory to the permit holder that no width or height restrictions exist on the route which will prohibit the proposed move.
