Section 70:01:02:50 - Mellette CountyThe following are the maximum speeds on certain highways in Mellette County:
(1) State Trunk Highway 44 beginning 0.05 mile west of Second Street in Wood, then east to Second Street, then south along Second Street to Main Street, then east along Main Street to First Street, then south along First Street to the south boundary of section 25, township 41 north, range 27 west of the sixth principal meridian, then east for 400 feet, 25 miles per hour;(2) Taft Street beginning at the north junction of Taft Street and U.S. Highway 83 in White River, then south to the south junction of Taft Street and U.S. Highway 83, 30 miles per hour;(3) State Trunk Highway 63 beginning at the townsite of Norris 0.2 mile north of the quarter corner common to sections 2 and 3, township 40 north, range 33 west of the sixth principal meridian, then south 0.4 mile, 30 miles per hour; then east and south to the Mellette-Todd county line, 55 miles per hour;(4) U.S. Highway 83 beginning 0.4 mile south of the north junction of U.S. Highway 83 and State Trunk Highway 44 in White River, then north on U.S. Highway 83 for 0.2 mile, 45 miles per hour; then north for 0.7 mile, 35 miles per hour; then north for 0.2 mile, 45 miles per hour;(5) State Trunk Highway 44 beginning at the Mellette-Tripp county line, then west 14.33 miles to the west city limits of Wood, 55 miles per hour;(6) State Trunk Highway 53 beginning at its junction with State Trunk Highway 44, then north to the Mellette-Lyman county line, 55 miles per hour;(7) State Trunk Highway 63 beginning at its junction with State Trunk Highway 44, then north to the Mellette-Jackson county line, 55 miles per hour.S.D.
