For the Aid to Families With Dependent Children program, a child is a resident of the state where the caretaker relative is a resident. The caretaker relative is considered a resident of the state of South Dakota when physically present in the state with an expressed intent to remain, when entering the state with a job commitment, or when seeking employment in the state, whether or not currently employed in the state.
