Fire-resistive construction required by the building code in effect at the time of the building's construction or by this chapter, including occupancy separations, area separation walls, shaft enclosures must be maintained as specified in the building code or this chapter. This required fire-resistive construction must be repaired, restored, or replaced when damaged, altered, breached, penetrated, removed, or improperly installed.
