Each hospital offering obstetric and newborn services shall maintain facilities, equipment, and supplies appropriate to the service. The hospital shall establish, implement, and maintain written policies and procedures and have techniques and methods that will provide safe intrapartum and postpartum care on the nursing unit for obstetric patients, immediate delivery room care, recovery period care, and continuing nursery care for the newborn infants. A medical record for each obstetrical patient and newborn infant, and a delivery room register shall be maintained.
