Section 24:28:15:10 - Requirements to obtain a standard administrator certificate with a principal endorsement

To obtain a standard administrator certificate with a principal endorsement, an individual with a principal administrator alternative certificate shall:

(1) Complete a minimum of 18 transcripted credits from a regionally-accredited institution of higher education with a grade of C or higher in the following areas:
i. Instructional leadership;
ii. Ethical and inclusive leadership;
iii. Cognitive coaching/facilitation skills;
iv. Creating a safe and inclusive school environment;
v. Process management;
vi. Systems management;
vii. Educational policy and law; and
viii. Three-hour approved South Dakota Indian studies course;
(2) Pass the state-designated pedagogy test;
(3) Pass the state-designated content test; and
(4) Receive signoff from the applicant's employing public or Department-accredited school.
