The executive secretary may authorize a law enforcement agency to pay compensation to a reserve officer for order, maintenance, and security functions at sporting events, parades, and other special events. The law enforcement agency shall submit any request for authority to pay compensation to the executive secretary 30 days in advance of the performance of services for which compensation is requested.
