Section 62-401 - Commission to Develop Program; Eligible Institutions; Criteria for Awarding GrantsA. The State Commission on Higher Education shall develop a statewide program of grants to improve undergraduate education. Such grants shall be awarded on a competitive basis.B. Only public and private non-proprietary postsecondary institutions accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools will be eligible to apply for and receive a grant.C. Annually, CHE, with advice from eligible institutions, shall establish priorities for awarding grants. Individual awards shall be made in amounts not less than $25,000 or more than $75,000. Proposals shall be evaluated by a panel of out-of-state educators chosen by the Commission. The final decision on funding shall be made by the Commission. Proposals which generate results which are readily transferable to other institutions shall be favored. The Commission shall disseminate information to ensure that project results are shared widely.
