1. The following are fouls in boxing, and boxers committing any of these infractions are subject to penalty as the referee sees fit: a. Hitting below the belt;b. Hitting an opponent who is down or who is getting up after being down;c. Holding an opponent with one hand and hitting with the other;d. Holding or deliberately maintaining a clinch;f. Any unsportsmanlike trick or action causing injury to an opponent;g. Butting with the head or shoulder or using the knee;h. Hitting with the open glove, or with the butt of the hand, the wrist, or the elbow; all backhand blows;i. Roughing at the ropes;j. Use of the kidney punch, which consists of punching in the back or kidney area;k. Use of the rabbit punch, which is defined as punching to the back of the head or neck;l. Jabbing opponent's eyes with the thumb of the glove;m. The use of abusive language in the ring;o. Hitting after the bell has sounded ending the round;p. Intentionally spitting at an opponent or spectators.S.C. Code Regs. § 20-5.15
