Section 216-RICR-20-10-2.4 - Confidentiality ProvisionsA. All information concerning cases or suspected cases shall be held in confidence in accordance with the provisions of R.I. Gen Laws Chapter 5-37.3 "Confidentiality of Health Care Communications and Information Act" and all other applicable State and Federal Statutes and Regulations.B. The HIPAA Privacy Rule and Public Health: Guidance from the CDC and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services incorporated above expressly permits disclosures without individual authorization to public health authorities authorized by law to collect or receive the information to prevent or control disease, injury, or disability, including, but not limited to, public health surveillance, investigation, and intervention.216 R.I.
