Section 216-RICR-10-10-1.19 - Responsibility of Medical ExaminerA. In all cases where the medical examiner has assumed medico-legal jurisdiction in accordance with Part 60-10-1 of this Title, Medical Examiner System, and R.I. Gen. Laws Chapter 23-4, the medical examiner shall execute and sign the medical certification and burial-transit permit in accordance with §§ 1.21, 1.24, and 1.25 of this Part and within forty-eight (48) hours after taking charge of the case.B. Furthermore, when death occurred without medical attendance as set forth in R.I. Gen. Laws § 23-3-16(c), the medical examiner shall investigate the cause of death and shall complete and sign the medical certification and burial-transit permit within forty-eight (48) hours after taking charge of the case pursuant to R.I.
