The following rules govern floor covering:
(1) The floor in the underseat area, including the tops of wheelhousing, driver's compartment and the toeboard, shall be covered with rubber floor covering or equivalent having a minimum overall thickness of .125 inch. Type A school buses may use manufacturer's standard floor covering in the driver's compartment.(2) The floor covering in the aisle shall be of aisle type rubber or equivalent, wear resistant and ribbed. The minimum overall thickness shall be .187 inch measured from tops of ribs.(3) Floor covering shall be permanently bonded to the floor and may not crack when subjected to sudden changes in temperature. Bonding or adhesive material shall be waterproof and shall be of the type recommended by the manufacturer of the floor covering material.
