The plate inspector shall examine and inspect the shoes of all horses entered in any race and ensure only approved plates are used. The plate inspector shall advise the stewards if any horse does not have shoes which are properly fitted, and the stewards shall scratch the horse from the race unless immediate repairs can be made.
