Section 333-122-0010 - General Requirements for All RGD: Radiation Safety Officer(1) The radiation safety officer (RSO) of an RGD X-ray facility must ensure that radiation safety activities are being performed in accordance with approved procedures and regulatory requirements in the daily operation of the registrant's program. The registrant's senior management shall designate an individual responsible for radiation safety, or a RSO. This individual shall have training and experience commensurate with the scope of the radiation safety program to carry out the responsibilities as indicated below.(2) The responsibilities shall include the following: (a) Establishing and overseeing all operating, emergency, and ALARA procedures as required by chapter 333, division 120 and reviewing them regularly to ensure that they conform to the Authority's rules and to the registration conditions; (b) Overseeing and approving the training program for RGD X-ray personnel to ensure that appropriate and effective radiation protection practices are taught; (c) Ensuring that required radiation surveys are performed and documented in accordance with OAR 333-122-0110 and 333-120-0200, and include any corrective measures when levels of radiation exceed the established limits; and(d) Ensure that individual and area monitoring devices are used properly. (3) The radiation safety officer shall ensure that:(a) Records are kept of the monitoring results and that timely notifications are made as required by OAR 333120-0200 and OAR 333-120-0710; (b) Individual monitoring devices are calibrated per the manufacturer's specifications;(c) X-ray operations are conducted safely, and corrective actions are implemented when necessary; and(d) X-ray device operations are terminated appropriately after each use.
