Section 333-113-0203 - Subjects to be Included in Training Courses for Logging Supervisors
(1) Fundamentals of radiation safety:
(a) Characteristics of radiation;
(b) Units of radiation dose and quantity of radioactivity;
(c) Significance of radiation dose:
(A) Radiation protection standards;
(B) Biological effects of radiation dose.
(d) Levels of radiation from sources of radiation;
(e) Methods of minimizing radiation dose:
(A) Working time;
(B) Working distances;
(C) Shielding.
(f) Radiation safety practices including prevention of contamination and methods of decontamination.
(2) Radiation detection instrumentation to be used:
(a) Use of radiation survey instruments:
(A) Operation;
(B) Calibration;
(C) Limitations.
(b) Survey techniques;
(c) Use of personnel monitoring equipment.
(3) Equipment to be used:
(a) Handling equipment;
(b) Sources of radiation;
(c) Storage and control of equipment;
(d) Operation and control of equipment.
(4) The Requirements of pertinent federal and state regulations.
(5) The licensee's or registrant's written operating and emergency procedures.
(6) The licensee's or registrant's record keeping procedures.
