Section 333-113-0145 - Inspection and Maintenance(1) Each licensee or registrant must conduct, at intervals not to exceed six months, a visual check of source holders, logging tools, source handling tools, storage containers, transport containers and injection tools to ensure proper labeling and physical condition. Records of inspection and maintenance must be maintained in accordance with 333-100-0057.(2) If any inspection conducted pursuant to section (1) of this rule reveals defects or damage to labeling or components, the device must be removed from service until repairs have been made.(3) If a sealed source is stuck in the source holder, the licensee must not perform any operation, such as drilling, cutting or chiseling, on the source holder unless the licensee is specifically approved by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Agency, an Agreement State or a Licensing State to perform this operation.(4) The repair, opening or modification of any sealed source must be performed only by persons specifically authorized to do so by the Authority, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Agency, an Agreement State or a Licensing State.(5) Removal of a sealed source from a source holder or logging tool, and maintenance on sealed sources or holders in which sealed sources are contained may not be performed by the licensee unless a written procedure has been developed and approved either by the Authority, the Nuclear Regulatory Agency or by an Agreement State or a Licensing State.Or.
