Section 333-113-0135 - Design, Performance and Certification Criteria for Sealed Sources(1) Each sealed source, except those containing radioactive material in gaseous form, used in well logging operations and manufactured after May 1, 1983 must be certified by the manufacturer, or other testing organization acceptable to the Authority, to meet the following minimum criteria: (a) Be of doubly encapsulated construction;(b) Contain radioactive material whose chemical and physical forms are as insoluble and nondispersible as practical; and(c) Has been individually pressure tested to at least 24,600 pounds per square inch absolute (1.695 x 107 pascals) without failure.(2) For sealed sources, except those containing radioactive material in gaseous form, acquired after May 1, 1984 in the absence of a certificate from a transferor certifying that an individual sealed source meets the requirements of section (1) of this rule, the sealed source must not be put into use until such determinations and testing have been performed.(3) Each sealed source, except those containing radioactive material in gaseous form, used in well logging operations after May 1, 1985 must be certified by the manufacturer, or other testing organization acceptable to the Authority, as meeting the sealed source performance requirements for oil well-logging as contained in the American National Standard N43.6, "Classification of Sealed Radioactive Sources," (formerly N542, ANSI/NBS 126).(4) After source disposal certification documents must be maintained in accordance with 333-100-0057. If the source is abandoned downhole, the certification documents must be maintained until the Authority authorizes disposition.Or. Admin. Code § 333-113-0135
