Section 230:35-5-146 - Action when laws are violated

If a Precinct Official sees or suspects an election law violation, the Inspector takes only the following steps. The Inspector never attempts to enforce the law under any circumstances.

(1) If the suspected violation is described in the Precinct Official Manual, take only these steps.
(A) Tell the person involved that the action is against the law.
(B) Read what the Precinct Official Manual says about the violation, if necessary. Tell the person that this is the law.
(C) Call the Secretary of the County Election Board immediately if the person continues the action that violates the law.
(2) If the Precinct Official Manual does not describe the possible violation, the Inspector calls the Secretary of the County Election Board immediately.
