I, J. Kevin Stitt, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, hereby direct the appropriate steps be taken to fly all American and Oklahoma flags on State property at half-staff from 8:00 a.m. until noon on Monday, May 31, 2021, in recognition of Memorial Day, a day our nation sets aside to honor and remember those who gave the full measure of sacrifice in defense of our freedoms. As we pray for those military heroes, we remember the thousands of Gold Star families in Oklahoma and across the country who feel that loss daily.
While Oklahoma, and our nation, may feel so divided, my prayer is that today we remember the common thread that binds the men and women of our United Stated Armed Forces is not race, gender, ethnicity, or political affiliation. It is a love of, and a service to, our country.
This executive order shall be forwarded to the Division of Capital Assets Management who shall cause the provisions of this order to be implemented by all appropriate agencies of state government.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Oklahoma to be affixed at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, this 28th day of May, 2021. May God continue to bless our active servicemembers, our veterans, and our Gold Star families specifically.
BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA
J. Kevin Stitt
