Section 33-11-01.2-04 - Issuance and renewal of licenses1. The department or its authorized agent may inspect the service. If minimum standards for either basic life support ground ambulance services or advanced life support ground ambulance services are met, the department may issue a license and designate its service area. The department may designate a new ambulance service to operate in a service area if the following conditions are present: a. The existing ambulance service has not complied with the performance standards outlined in section 33-11-01.2-14 or 33-11-01.2-17 or 33-11.2-15; orb. The county commission or city commission having governing authority within an ambulance service area has petitioned the department requesting another ambulance service to operate in their area due to poor performance. Ambulance service performance issues must be documented, quantifiable, and persistent.2. A service may request that the department consider it in compliance with this chapter if it is fully accredited by an ambulance accreditation agency recognized by the department.3. Services requesting their compliance with this chapter to be verified through an accrediting agency shall submit to the department a copy of the entire accrediting agency survey report.
