Section 08B .0109 - APPLICATION PROCESS: STEP EIGHT: APPLICATION REVIEW BOARD(a) The chief shall appoint an Applicant Review Board consisting of at least three members which shall meet periodically on call of the chief. The Applicant Review Board shall review the files of each applicant recommended for rejection by the investigator and/or chief. If the Review Board decides that an applicant who has been recommended for rejection by the chief should receive further consideration, it shall ask the chief to make arrangements for the board to interview the applicant. The chief shall comply with such requests.(b) The chief shall notify each applicant who has successfully fulfilled the requirements set forth in this Section that he/she is to appear before the Applicant Review Board to be interviewed. The chief shall inform the applicant of the date, time, and place of the interview.(c) After interviewing the applicant, the Review Board shall recommend to the chief whether the applicant should be accepted or rejected. In interviewing the applicant, the board shall especially evaluate the applicant's appearance, ability to communicate in oral and written English, ability to be courteous, attitude toward the responsibilities of a member of BPS, understanding of his/her duties and responsibilities toward the citizens of North Carolina as a member of BPS, sensitivity to the problems faced by the spouse and family of a BPS member, and general demeanor.14B N.C.
