N.Y. Comp. Codes R. & Regs. tit. 9 § 9.88
WHEREAS, on December 23, 2022, I issued Executive Order Number 26 declaring a State disaster emergency for the entire State of New York;
WHEREAS, the storm continues to produce hazardous conditions resulting in road closures, travel disruptions, power outages, and damage to public and private property throughout the State, which pose a threat to the public health and safety;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, KATHY HOCHUL, Governor of the State of New York, by virtue of the authority vested in me by Section 29-a of Article 2-B of the Executive Law to temporarily suspend or modify any statute, local law, ordinance, order, rule, or regulation, or parts thereof, if compliance with such statute, local law, ordinance, order, rule, or regulation would prevent, hinder, or delay action necessary to cope with the disaster emergency, I hereby temporarily suspend and modify, for the period from the date of this Executive Order through January 22, 2023, the following law:
Section 215 of the Executive Law insofar as it requires, for purposes of appointment as a sworn member to the New York State Police, citizenship of the United States, a maximum age, a physical and mental examination, a probationary period and completion of a training program, to the extent necessary to allow the Superintendent of the New York State Police to appoint out-of-state law enforcement officers as sworn members of the New York State Police for the limited purpose of responding to this disaster. The Superintendent is authorized to withdraw such appointment any time prior to the expiration of this Executive Order.
