The information obtained by a school district pursuant to this Part shall be deemed privileged and confidential, shall be used only for the limited purpose of properly establishing the responsibility of a school district for the cost of instruction and tuition of a child who is a public charge in foster care pursuant to section 3202 of Education Law, and shall not be disclosed by the school district or any employee thereof for any other purpose. The school district shall undertake to safeguard the confidentiality of such information as may be required by the department or the Education Department.
