Section 8:43D-6.1 - Resident care policies and procedures(a) There shall be a resident care policy and procedure committee that shall consist of at least the administrator, director of nursing and the medical director, which shall establish written resident care policies and procedures, which shall be reviewed at least every three years. Each review of the policies and procedures shall be documented. Policies and procedures shall include, but not be limited to, those relating to: 2. The determination of staffing levels to ensure delivery of services and assistance as needed for each resident of the facility 24 hours per day. Services may be provided directly by staff employed by the facility or by an appropriate contract specialist;3. Referral of residents to health care providers in accordance with individual needs and resident service plans;4. Emergency medical and dental care of residents, including notification of the resident's family, guardian, or designated community agency, and care of residents during periods of acute illness;5. Resident instruction and health education;6. The prohibition of smoking in the facility in accordance with 26:3D-55 et seq.;7. Discharge, involuntary discharge, termination by the facility, transfer, and readmission of residents, including criteria for each;8. The care and control of pets, if the facility permits pets in the facility or on its premises;9. Monitoring the quality of health care services provided to residents, which shall include, at a minimum, policies in: iii. Resident injury; and10. A planned, diversified program of resident activities shall be offered daily, including individual and/or group activities, either on-site or off-site, to meet the individual needs of all residents; and11. General infection control policies and procedures as set forth in 8:43D-15.3.N.J. Admin. Code § 8:43D-6.1
