Section 18:24-7.17 - Retention of records
(a) Motor vehicle dealers are subject to the recordkeeping requirements set forth in N.J.A.C. 18:24-2.
(b) All certificates, affidavits, or other documentary evidence accepted by a motor vehicle dealer as a basis for exemption from any tax imposed by the Sales and Use Tax Act (N.J.S.A. 54:32B-1 et seq.) shall be retained by the dealer for a period of not less than four years from the date of the use of such certificate as a basis for exemption.
(c) A copy of the certificate of title of a vehicle accepted as a trade-in in accordance with N.J.A.C. 18:24-7.4 shall be retained by the dealer for a period of not less than four years from the date of the sale in which the trade-in was allowed.
