Section 13:70-9.30 - Apprentice contracts(a) An apprentice jockey must be at least 16 years of age to enter into a contract with a racing stable for a period not to exceed three years. Such contracts must be filed with the Racing Commission, and submitted to the stewards for their approval, and are binding in all respects on the signatories thereof.(b) In lieu of a contract, an apprentice jockey certificate may be issued by the stewards and must be filed with the Racing Commission.N.J.
