Section 13:32A-7.9 - Continuing education programs
(a) A licensed master hearth specialist may obtain continuing education credit hours from the following:
1. Successful completion of continuing education courses or programs related to the practice of hearth professional work approved by, or offered by providers approved by, the National Fireplace Institute (NFI), one credit hour for each hour of instruction.
2. Teaching a new continuing education program related to hearth professional work that is approved pursuant to (a)1 above. As used in this paragraph, "new" means that the licensed master hearth specialist has never taught or developed curriculum for that course or program in any educational setting, one credit hour for each hour taught; and
3. Successfully passing the National Fireplace Institute (NFI) examination required to obtain certification as a master hearth professional, 21 credit hours.
(b) The one credit hour course in propane services required pursuant to N.J.A.C. 13:32A-7.8(c)shall be:
1. Offered by, or offered by providers approved by, the National Fireplace Institute (NFI);
2. Offered by continuing education sponsors approved by the Board pursuant to N.J.A.C. 13:32A-4.2 or by the Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers pursuant to N.J.A.C. 13:32-6.2; or
3. Offered by, or offered by providers approved by, the Department of Community Affairs.
