N.J. Admin. Code § 13:24-5.3

When a person to whom an identification card (permit) has been issued pursuant to this subchapter ceases to be an active member in good standing of a volunteer fire company or volunteer first aid or rescue squad, the identification card (permit) shall automatically and immediately be deemed cancelled and shall be surrendered to the Commission by the permit holder within 10 days of the cause of cancellation.
