Unless otherwise provided in this chapter, for school buses with a June 1993 through December 2005 chassis manufacture date, the overall length of the bus shall not exceed 40 feet. For school buses with a January 2006 or later chassis manufacture date, the maximum overall length of a school bus body shall not exceed 42 feet, excluding the bumpers.
The maximum overhang of the body to the rear of the center of the rear axle shall not be in excess of one-third of the total length of the vehicle.
