N.H. Admin. Code § We 101.09

Current through Register No. 50, December 12, 2024
Section We 101.09 - Competent bedrock

"Competent bedrock" means bedrock which is structurally sound, and exhibits a minimum of fractures, joints, partings, faults, and chemical or physical weathering, that would degrade the structural integrity, or increase the hydraulic conductivity, of the parent rock. For the purposes of these rules, competent bedrock shall have the ability to:

(a) Sustain an open borehole to accept the well casing;
(b) Accommodate a hydraulic seal that will prevent the likelihood of groundwater from entering the well along or underneath the casing; and
(c) Prevent groundwater from entering the well by way of enhanced permeability features such as fractures, joints, and cavities immediately below the casing.
