Section Mhp 307.02 - Supervised Work Experience for Social Worker
(a) Applicants shall have completed at least 2 years of post-bachelors supervised work experience in a mental health or social service setting as required by Mhp 307.01(d).
(b) The supervision shall have provided for a minimum of one hour per week of individual face-to-face supervision between the supervisor and the applicant for a total of 100 hours.
(c) Acceptable supervised experience shall require direct contact with a supervisor who is responsible for the professional development and guidance of the supervisee and is familiar with the supervisee's work and organizational setting.
(d) Supervision shall be provided by a licensed clinical social worker, licensed marriage and family therapist, licensed mental health counselor, or licensed pastoral physiotherapist.
(e) The supervisor shall be licensed in the state where the supervision takes place.
(f) The supervision shall be conducted in the physical presence or via a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant synchronous virtual presence.
(g) Supervised experience shall not include class work, practicum experience, or other course related experiences.
(h) The supervisor shall not have a dual relationship with the applicant which may impair their objectivity as described in Mhp 501.02(c).
(i) A 1099 employee of an independent private practice shall not be considered an acceptable supervised professional experience.
