Section He-W 552.07 - Training Requirements(a) The provider shall ensure that, within 30 days of the date of hire, the PCA has, through training or experience, the skills required to perform the PCA services including competency in the following areas:(1) Roles, responsibilities, and expectations of a PCA, including knowledge of activities that do and do not qualify as PCA services;(2) Personal care and nutrition;(3) Infection control and universal precautions designed to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases;(4) Safety and emergency procedures, including basic first aid and 911 protocols;(5) Proper lifting techniques;(6) Recipient rights and reporting of abuse and neglect; and(7) Recordkeeping and documentation, including the penalties associated with improper recordkeeping and documentation.(b) The provider shall maintain documentation in the personnel file indicating that the PCA meets the requirements of (a) above, including the name and signature of the person making the competency determination.N.H.
