Section Hcp 403.05 - Extensions
(a) An audiologist or hearing aid dealer may petition the board for an extension of 90 days in which to complete the required continuing education if the audiologist or hearing aid dealer submits an otherwise complete application Hcp 401.03 by the time specified in Hcp 401.02.
(b) The petition for extension pursuant to (a) above shall be granted if the reason that the continuing education was not obtained was due to illness, absence, or any other reason beyond the control of the petitioner.
(c) In the event a licensed audiologist or hearing aid dealer submits documentation for continuing education by the deadline date, that appears to meet the minimum requirements but the board learns of failure to attend or complete the credit hours as originally approved, the board shall grant an extension period not to exceed 90 days in order that the applicant can correct the deficiency.
(d) During the extension period granted pursuant to (a) or (d) above, the licensee or registrant may continue to practice. If the audiologist or hearing aid dealer fails to satisfy the continuing education requirement by the end of the 90 day extension, the audiologist's license or hearing aid dealer's registration shall expire.
(e) An audiologist whose license has expired pursuant to (d) above shall cease practicing until such time as the continuing education requirements have been met and the audiologist complies with the requirements of Hcp 401.05.
(f) A hearing aid dealer whose registration has expired pursuant to (d) above shall cease practicing until such time as he or she has submitted an application for registration pursuant to Hcp 301.04 that has been granted by the board.
