Section Fis 607.06 - Jonah Crab (Cancer borealis) and Rock Crab (Cancer irroratus)
(a) No person shall take Jonah or rock crabs from any water under the jurisdiction of this state without first procuring a valid and proper license pursuant to RSA 211:18, except that any person may take 12 crabs a day by angling, diving, or by hand without a license pursuant to RSA 211:18-c.
(b) Any person licensed to take Jonah or rock crabs for the purpose of sale pursuant to RSA 211:18 (b), (c), or (d), III may only use traps as provided by Fis 602.10.
(c) No person shall remove spawn from any female Jonah or rock crab and no person shall take, possess, sell, or offer for sale any female Jonah or rock crab carrying spawn or any crab spawn.
(d) No person taking crabs for personal use, and not for the purpose of sale, shall take or possess more than 50 whole Jonah or rock crabs daily. This 50 crab limit shall be for Jonah and rock crabs combined.
(e) No person shall remove Jonah or rock crab claws prior to landing. Only whole crabs shall be retained and sold.
(f) The minimum carapace width for Jonah crab shall be 4 3/4 inches (120.6 mm) measured in a straight line through the widest part of the shell, for any crab taken or possessed by any individual holding any of the following commercial licenses:
(1) A commercial lobster and crab license pursuant to RSA 211:18;
(2) A commercial saltwater license pursuant to RSA 211:49-a and b;
(3) A lobster and crab landing license pursuant to RSA 211:49-d; or
(4) A wholesale marine license pursuant to RSA 211:49 aa and c.
(g) No vessel shall land or possess more than 1000 Jonah crabs per calendar day taken by non-trap methods or non-lobster trap methods from federal waters.
