Section Env-Ws 380.03 - Purpose and Scope(a) The requirements in this part constitute national primary drinking water rules as specified in 40 CFR 141.1 which establish requirements for filtration and disinfection in addition to criteria under which filtration and disinfection are required elsewhere in this part.(b) This part establishes criteria under which filtration shall be required as a treatment technique for public water systems supplied by a surface water source and public water systems supplied by a source of ground water under the direct influence of surface water.(c) These rules establish treatment technique requirements in lieu of maximum contaminant levels for giardia lamblia, viruses, heterotrophic plate count bacteria, legionella, cryptosporidium, and turbidity.(d) The owner of a public water system serving at least 10,000 peopleshall comply with the requirements in:(e) As required by 40 CFR 141.70(e), beginning January 1, 2005, the owner of a public water system serving fewer than 10,000 people shall comply with the requirements listed in (d), above.N.H.
