Section Env-Wq 1109.04 - Hydraulic Design: Pumps, Drains, and Suction Outlets(a) Each pump, drain, and suction outlet shall comply with Env-Wq 1108.22(a)(1).(b) Any pool in operation prior to November 1, 2005 with a single outlet or with 2 drains that are less than 3 feet apart may continue to operate provided each outlet is protected by one or more of the methods or devices specified in ANSI/APSP/ICC-7, 2013, available as noted in Appendix B.(c) If suction outlets are used, a minimum of 2 outlets shall be installed at the lowest point of the pool floor.(d) Each drain in a suction outlet system shall be:(1) Connected to a common pipe through a tee configuration located such that the drains are hydraulically balanced; and(2) Designed to handle a minimum of 100% of the total design circulation flow if all other drains are blocked.(e) Drains shall be spaced: (1) Not less than 36 inches and not more than 60 inches apart, center to center, from each other; and(2) Evenly from the side walls.(f) Drain suction piping shall: (1) Be sized to handle 100% of the circulation;(2) Have a minimum nominal pipe size of 2.5 inches when used between multiple drains; and(3) Be sized to meet the velocity requirements in Env-Wq 1109.06(f).(h) Each pump shall be equipped with a vacuum and pressure gauge that is separate from the pressure gauge associated with the filter.N.H.
