Section 641D.Sec. 52 - NEW
1. A licensee shall maintain a record for each patient or client for not less than 7 years after the last date that service was rendered to the patient or client, except that the record of a patient or client who is a minor must be maintained for not less than 7 years after the last date that service was rendered or for 1 year after the patient or client reaches 21 years of age, whichever is longer. A licensee shall comply with all other state and federal laws and regulations concerning the maintenance of records, including, without limitation, a law or regulation which requires him or her to maintain records for a longer period than required by this subsection.
2. A licensee shall comply with all state and federal laws governing the right of a patient or client to have access to his or her records.
