No building or structure shall be used or occupied, and no change in the existing occupancy classification of a building or structure or portion thereof shall be made until the State Fire Marshal has issued a Certificate of Occupancy therefor.
The owner or his authorized representative shall notify the State Fire Marshal's office in writing for request of a final inspection prior to occupancy of the building or applicable affected portion thereof. After a final inspection of the completed structure when it is found that the building or structure complies with the rules and regulations of the State Fire Marshal and other laws which are enforced by the State Fire Marshal, the State Fire Marshal shall issue a Certificate of Occupancy.
If the State Fire Marshal finds that no substantial hazard will result from occupancy of any building or portion thereof before the same is completed, he may issue a temporary Certificate of Occupancy for the use of a portion or portions of a building or structure prior to the completion of the entire building or structure.
The Certificate of Occupancy shall be posted in a conspicuous place on the premises and shall not be removed except by the State Fire Marshal.
