Treatment means the provision of medical, dental or psychological services or procedures performed (including surgery) on the employee or immediate family member by treating professionals or their staff. "Treatment" for purposes of sick leave does not include participating in activities that are, as determined by the Department, primarily considered recreational activities and engaged in frequently by persons who are not ill or suffering from a medical, dental or psychological condition or disability, even when such activity is beneficial to the employee's physical or mental health (i.e., trips to a destination to relax or relieve stress, running in marathons, etc.).
