Rule 24.165.524 - PROTOCOL FOR USE OF AN APPROVED MEDICATION AS A NEUROPATHIC PAIN AGENT(1) Clinicians may use approved topical medications as neuropathic pain agents, when and as directed by a licensed medical practitioner with prescriptive authority. (2) Neuropathic pain agent actions depend upon the type of agent. (3) Neuropathic pain agents are indicated for injuries to central or peripheral nervous system, including fibromyalgias, diabetic neuropathy, and regional pain syndrome. (4) Neuropathic pain agents are contraindicated if an infection or rash is present at the site of application or there is a sensitivity to the topical agent. Mont. Admin. r. 24.165.524
