Whenever the opening date set above falls on a Sunday, the season shall begin on the preceding Saturday.

B. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
1. WMA USER PERMIT: All persons using this wildlife management area, except those exempt from purchasing an annual hunting or fishing license, must carry on their person an annual statewide Wildlife Management Area User Permit. This permit is required in addition to completing the daily visitor use permit or by using the WMA Check-In App and any required license and may be purchased wherever licenses are sold.
2. BAG LIMITS: Same as statewide bag limits, except the bag limit on antlerless deer is one (1) per day. Permitted deer hunt bag limits - 2 does and 1 buck per permit, no daily bag limit. All harvested deer count towards statewide bag limits, unless otherwise stated.
3. LEGAL BUCKS: Legal bucks are those with an inside spread of at least 10 inches OR one main beam length of at least 13 inches. For hunters 15 years of age or younger any antlered buck is a legal buck.
4. DEER DATA COLLECTION: All deer harvested must be checked at a check station and recorded on WMA Daily Use Permit Card or WMA Check-In App by the hunter who harvested them before leaving the WMA. If WMA personnel are not available to check the deer, the hunter is responsible for collecting and legibly recording ALL biological data (weight, antler measurements, and jawbone). Instructions and equipment will be provided. ALL antlerless deer heads harvested on Tuscumbia WMA must be deposited in a CWD Collection freezer or submitted to WMA staff for CWD sampling.
5. DEER HUNTING PERMITS: Deer hunting will be allowed by special permit only from Oct. 1 - 30. You may apply online at www.mdwfp.com. See application for hunt dates, application deadlines, and other information about permitted hunts. Hunters must check in a doe that is 11/2 years old or older during their permitted primitive weapon hunt to be issued a permit to harvest (1) legal buck. This buck permit will be valid for the duration of the permitted hunt.
6. DEER HUNTING - UNIT 2: Once the waterfowl draw hunts begin, archery and youth gun hunting will be allowed only on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. No scouting is allowed on waterfowl draw hunt days which are Wednesday and Saturday.
7. DOG RESTRICTIONS:
a. Deer hunting with dogs is prohibited.
b. Small game hunting with dogs is allowed during any small game season.
c. Hunting, running, or pursuing hogs with the use of dogs is prohibited.
8. LEGAL WEAPONS: Only centerfire rifles, shotguns with slugs, primitive weapons, and centerfire handguns may be used for deer hunting.
9. TRAPPING: All kill type traps must be at least 50% submerged in water.
10. WATERFOWL:
a. UNIT 1: Open with state seasons and bag limits. Shooting hours on Unit 1 are one-half hour before sunrise until 3 p.m., except during the waterfowl youth, Veterans, and Active Military hunt which runs concurrent with state seasons. Waterfowl hunters must wear fluorescent orange or pink cap or vest to and from hunt site. Waterfowl scouting is allowed during any open hunting season.
b. UNIT 2: All waterfowl hunts, except for the waterfowl youth, Veterans, and Active Military hunts and September teal season, are draw hunts only. The waterfowl youth, Veterans, and Active Military hunt shall run concurrent with the statewide season. You may apply online at www.mdwfp.com. See application for hunt dates, application deadlines, and other information about permitted hunts.
c. All hunters must remain inside their assigned hunt station areas at all times.
d. All hunters must be checked in and out by area personnel.
e. Shooting hours are one-half hour before sunrise until 12 p.m.
f. All hunters and equipment must be removed from area by 1 p.m.
g. Spent shot shells must be removed from area.
h. Waterfowl scouting is allowed during any open hunting season, except on Wednesdays and Saturdays during waterfowl season.
11. TURKEY HUNTING PERMITS: Turkey hunting from March 15 - Apr. 17 is allowed by special permit only. You may apply online at www.mdwfp.com. See application for hunt dates, application deadlines, and other information about permitted hunts.
12. OFF-ROAD MOTORIZED VEHICLES/ATVs: UNIT 1: Off-road use of ORVs/ATVs/Electric Bicycles is allowed for the retrieval of harvested deer or hogs. UNIT 2: For permitted waterfowl hunters, ORVs/ATVs/Electric Bicycles are allowed on designated roads or trails to access assigned waterfowl impoundments during waterfowl permit hunts. Otherwise, ORVs/ATVs/Electric Bicycles are only allowed for the retrieval of harvested deer or hogs. Additionally, electric bicycles may be ridden on marked foot-traffic trails only by users 65 years of age and older. They may not be ridden on any leveed roads or trails.
13. HORSES: No horses allowed.
14. CAMPING: No camping allowed.
15. DOVE HUNTING - Unit 2: Dove hunting is allowed from 2 p.m. - sunset during the first season. After the first season, dove hunting follows statewide season dates.
16. HIGH WATER: All hunting seasons are closed when the Tuscumbia River gauge at Corinth reads 14.0 ft. or higher. River stages can be obtained from www.mdwfp.com/wma. The earliest daily reading will determine WMA closure for the entire day.
