Rule 30-901-3.7 - Applications from Non-Residents1. Only applicants who are residents of Mississippi may apply for initial enrollment as an Engineer Intern or Surveyor Intern or for initial licensure as a Professional Engineer or Professional Surveyor. Initial PE applicants applying in accordance with the MOU between the Board and the Japan PE/FE Examiners Council (JPEC) are exempted from this rule requiring Mississippi residency.2. The Board may require the applicant to furnish proof that he is a legal resident of Mississippi. For the purposes of this rule, "legal resident" shall mean a natural person whose domicile is within the state of Mississippi. "Domicile" shall likewise mean the place where such person actually resides with the intention of remaining there indefinitely or of returning there permanently when temporarily absent. Proof of legal residency may be shown by producing a valid Mississippi driver's license, a valid voter licensure card, or a certificate evidencing homestead exemption status.3. Military personnel who are otherwise qualified to sit for examinations, but whose legal residence is located outside the State of Mississippi, may apply if sufficient proof is produced showing permanent party or temporary duty assignment to a military installation located within this state.4. An applicant for engineer intern currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in an ABET/EAC accredited engineering curriculum at Mississippi State University, the University of Mississippi or Jackson State University is excluded from this rule.30 Miss.
