It is the position of the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure that vaccinations administered pursuant to a community-based public immunization program are considered to be under the direction and supervision of a physician, and thus do not constitute the unlawful practice of medicine, when all of the following criteria are met:
A. the vaccinations are administered to the public by a licensed nurse andB. are carried out pursuant to state and federal public health immunization programs or other programs which: 1. shall be approved in advance by the Board;2. shall be conducted under the general supervision of a physician licensed in the state of Mississippi , who is in at least part-time practice of medicine and resides in the state of Mississippi; and,3. a single physician assumes responsibility for the safe conduct of the immunization program.30 Miss.
