Rule 30-2201-4.7 - Licensure by ComityApplicants for licensure by Comity must complete the online application and submit the following:
A. Evidence of a valid license from another state is required. The Comity Applicant must be in good standing with the State in which that person holds a current license as a Licensed Professional Counselor or its equivalent independent counseling license.B. The Comity Applicant must demonstrate that he/she currently holds an equivalent independent counseling practice license with at least five (5) years of professional work experience as a counselor since the date of his/her/their initial licensure, that licensure was maintained continuously during those five (5) years, and that no substantiated complaints or disciplinary action(s) have ever been taken against the Licensee.C. Applicants must submit a Curriculum Vitae (C.V.) along with three (3) work references.D. The Board reserves the right to request additional information from the Applicant, or reject an application for cause as governed by Mississippi laws and/or rules.E. The Applicant seeking licensure shall direct the State in which she/he is currently licensed and cause to have certified copies of the contents of his/her/their licensure file sent directly to the Board's office at own expense.F. The Board will inform other boards of any disciplinary action(s) taken against any Licensed Professional Counselor that is licensed by Comity.G. The Board will develop and maintain documentation of the individuals that are approved for licensure by Comity and will make this information publicly available.H. The Board shall require each Applicant for licensure to undergo a fingerprint-based criminal history records check of the Mississippi central criminal database and the Federal Bureau of Investigation criminal history database. Each Applicant must submit a full set of the Applicant's fingerprints in a form and manner prescribed by the Board.I. The Applicant seeking licensure shall submit a certificate of completion of Mississippi Jurisprudence Exam.30 Miss. Code. R. 2201-4.7
